Our Background & Experience in Pole Dance Tuition

Tracy Hancock AKA PaganMy name is Tracy Hancock (AKA Pagan). I am a mature mother of 4 living in the North Wales area. My background is hugely varied. I graduated in 2003 with a HNC in care practice whilst working as a support worker for individuals with learning difficulties. I decided to take my studies further and graduated with a BSc in psychology in 2006, along with OCN level 2 & 3 in Counselling.

Although academically driven I was also physically active. Dancing and gymnastics have always been a huge part of my life and are more than just hobbies! I was also a member and regular attendee of the local gym; however, I found these gym sessions monotonous and longed to try something that would be fun as well give me a good workout.

Fortunately for me I discovered pole dancing and from my first lesson I was hooked! I dedicated myself to training, whilst studying to achieve my Exercise to Music qualification. I am now a fully qualified aerobics and Pump FX Instructor and am fully REPs Registered. I have also completed the PS Pro level 1 course, specifically designed for pole instructors, an aerial hoop instructors course, advanced stretching and the tri-fly course; ensuring my expertise in circus/pole skills. I was Britain’s first PDC Level 2 Pole Instructor, and am currently PDC 4* rated.  I use my fitness based knowledge to ensure that each lesson ensures a safe and effective workout.

I have pole danced at many events, from Elevate in Bangor and Wakestock in Abersoch to Pole Unity in London, with many other events in between, each one has been a fabulous fun-filled experience.  I have also been incredibly fortunate to have been taught by some of the best pole dancers across the globe including Jessalynn Medairy, Suzie Q, Sally-Ann Giles, Bendy Kate (2014 World Champion), Zoraya Judd and the marvellous Felix Cane, the 2009 & 2010 World Champion, to name just a few.  I have also represented Wales in the British Isle Pole Dancing Championships 2009, and made it to the Semi-Finals of The UKPPC 2010 and judged at The British Isles Pole Dance Championships 2011 and The North East Pole Fitness Competition 2012.  Pole dancing has become more than my hobby or my job, it is my passion and I feel sure that once you’ve tried it you’ll be just as hooked as I am!
Instructor ElenaMy name is Elena Neophytou, and I am a new instructor at Pagan’s Pole Dance and Circus Academy. I was introduced to pole dance in January 2011 when I discovered Pagan’s Pole, and have been training there with Tracy ever since.

I started with Tracy from the ground up, but was very quickly hooked, and even took part in my first competition half a year later. I fell firmly in love with pole as a sport and as a form of expression through dance, and so I conceived and co-founded Bangor University’s very first pole dance society “Bangor Uni Pole” within the university’s Athletics’ Union in 2012. I spent 2 years as the captain of the club, achieving the award of Full Colours in my first year. Several years, performances, and competitions later I am still a student of Tracy’s, enjoying my pole lessons as much as ever, but I am very proud to say that I am now also an instructor at the studio.

I am currently a Level 3* Pole Dance Community approved instructor. I am also finishing my Level 2 Group Exercise to Music Instructor qualification in September, and I am enrolled on the X-pert Pole fitness Instructor training course in September of this year to achieve my Pole Fitness Instructor Qualification.

I have performed pole in a variety of events from the Olympic Torch Relay in Bangor High Street, to burlesque nights at local pubs. I have also competed and placed in a variety of competitions including coming 2nd in the Pole2Pole heats 2011, winning the Something Special Award for creativity of performance and placing 3rd at the Intermediate level in the All Wales Pole Championship in 2013, and placing 2nd at the Advanced level in the All Wales Pole Championship in 2014.

Outside of pole I am a PhD student at Bangor University in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience, and also have a BSc Hons in Psychology and a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology from Bangor University.

I am passionate about teaching and have experience teaching a huge variety of subjects to a huge variety of people. Coupled with my love for dance and for challenging my body to achieve things I never thought were possible, I intend to bring my experiences together to create a safe, fun environment to learn pole in. I look forward to teaching you and sharing my passion for pole with you!
