Liz Wins Performer Category AWPC 2011

Liz made her debut onto the pole scene at The All Wales Pole Championships 2011, representing Pagan’s Pole in the performer category. The performer category is for those new to pole and therefore forbids all inverts and big tricks.

Liz choreographed a routine that was both unique and innovative, making the audience giggle as she chased a human banana around the pole, followed by some basic poi weaving and elegant pole transitions.

When asked how she felt about winning Liz said: “I was surprised…it was a great experience and I’ve never done anything like this before. The atmosphere was exciting and I actually enjoyed performing infront of an audience”.

The Pagan’s Pole team congratulates Liz on her success and we hope to see more of Liz in other pole events and competitions! BRAVO 🙂

Beth achieves Level 3 Grade

Pagan’s Pole is so proud to announce that Beth has received her level 3 grade under the PDC syllabus. Beth has been a pole dance/fitness student with Pagan’s Pole for 18 months and has worked hard to achieve her new status. Despite nerves on the day, Beth’s examination demonstrated not only her confidence on the pole and during tricks, but also her ability to choreograph a dance routine that was pretty awesome!

We all congratulate Beth for her success and look forward to watching her progress to the next level.

Tracy attends Alethea Austin Masterclass

I was so excited to get an opportunity to meet this leading lady in pole. Alethea is well known for her incredibly sexy and mesmerizing floor work, her amazing flexibility, and of course her fantastic tricks on the pole.

Alethea’s titles include: USPDF Champion 2010 and USPDF Miss Sexy 2009 and World Pole Dance Finalist 2010
I can honestly say I have never experienced a masterclass that made me want to sit and watch the instructor rather than join in, but Alethea truly is mesmerizing, and with a few incredibly sexy ripples and waves had the whole class spellbound.

After a thorough stretch session (the legs are still recovering) she showed us a few techniques both with and without a pole, that can enhance any pole dance 100%. Rolling around on the floor and rippling with Alethea Austin…I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Emma Boutet competes at The British Isles Pole Championships 2010

Emma Boutet represented Pagan’s Pole in The BIPDC 2010, at The Civic Hall in Essex. Emma was offered this fantastic opportunity to compete after her fabulous performance at The North Wales Pole Competition 2010.

Emma chose Chase & Status to perform to, and the music suited her intense style of dance. Emma looked fantastic in a melancholy based outfit, her clothing black, her face white, and the final most prominent item of costume…a blood red blindfold. Emma’s unusual style and interpretation of music were noted by audience members.

Emma thoroughly enjoyed her performance, and was later to report that she wished she could do it all again! We are extremely proud of Emma’s achievement and can’t wait to see her next performance!

Heather and Nikki compete at The UK Amateur Pole Performer 2010

Nikki Lines and Heather Walker were awarded places in the UKAPP final when they competed at The North Wales Pole Competition in February. Both girls were delighted at the opportunity to compete again, and had been working hard on putting together fun routines to impress the UKAPP judges.

Nikki decided upon a Charleston theme, combined with the 90’s tune, Doop. Her routine was so much fun that the audience couldn’t help smiling along with her dance both on and off the pole. A truly fabulous jovial performance all round!

Heather also opted for fun filled theme, impersonating Aerial, from Disney’s: The Little Mermaid. Heather’s performance warmed the cockles of everyone’s heart, her breathtaking leaps across the stage and elegant use of the pole was beautiful to watch. Heather was informed after the competition that she came 3rd place, an amazing achievement!

Both Heather and Nikki should be extremely proud of their performances, it takes real courage to get up on stage in front of the judges, and both did tremendously. Pagan’s Pole is extremely proud of both students.

Tracy (AKA Pagan) becomes BRITAIN’S 1st Level 2 PDC approved Instructor!

Pagan’s Pole has always supported the Pole Dance Community’s (PDC) idea of a national syllabus and code of conduct for the Pole Dance and Fitness Industry. As a result of this we have joined the new AAP (Advancements and Accreditation Programme). Karen Chaundy instructs the Paganettes

Karen Chaundy instructs the Paganettes

The Paganettes were extremely lucky to have been invited to take part in a private group masterclass with International and British Isle Champion, Karen Chaundy, at her Bodybarre Studio in Manchester. The girls: Nikki, Liz, Nicola, Heather and Tracy were worked and stretched like never before but all felt truly happy to have been part of an amazing pole class.

Karen is well known for her extreme flexibility and hardcore power moves. We were much impressed with her patience and determination as she attempted to teach us some of these moves, including the Iron X, Dart Handspring, and Shouldermount Walkovers. Of course no pole class would be complete without a good stretching session, and believe me did we get stretched. Infact, I believe the Paganettes bore more resemblance to John Wayne with saddlebags than pole dancers once Karen had her wicked way with our splits training!

In summery all the girls had a fantastic time and learned a great deal from both Karen and Penny. The studio is a delight to pole in, with sweets on offer and fantastic company. Many thanks to you all!

Pole Demo at Wylfa Power Station, Cemaes

Pagan’s Pole was over the moon to be asked to perform and demonstrate at Wylfa Power Station’s ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ open day. The day was designed to generate interest in Health and Exercise and consisted of numerous genres and regimes of exercise, from Salsa, Weight Lifting and even Cannon Firing, indeed it proved to be an all out action packed event!

The girls were able to demonstrate their art and dismiss the stereotypical view of pole dancing. There were gasps from the crowds as tricks were performed, while others couldn’t wait to get their hands on the pole and try for themselves. The variety of people present covered all ages, and every generation had a swing or a spin, from 5 year olds to Grandmas, the pole seemed to appeal to all.

The pole held a particular appeal to a very talented group of teenage lads. Blessed with an innate strength and lack of fear, we were impressed by the sheer determination and hard work these lads put into practicing the moves we taught. We were not the only ones impressed. The the local Leisure Centre was so impressed by the youths enthusiasm and dedication that classes are subsequently being arranged to give these youngsters a hobby and activity to participate in.

With a great deal of other parties also demonstrating an interest in pole fit classes, we have hopefully been able to impress upon the public the many benefits of our sport!

Many thanks to Wylfa for such a fantastic opportunity to display our sport!
